Q. What mental skills did you use when you went to the change
over at 6-1 down?
Blake’s main focus was to remain calm during the change
over at the end of the first set. He understood that if Sam Querry
kept his level of play at such a high level, it would be tough
to win the match, nevertheless, he wanted to stick in until the
end and give it his best.
Blake understood that he did ot have to win 6 games in a row,
just taking it one game at a time was key. Blake also understood
that often players who win comfortable sets often get ‘passive’,
so it was important to keep going for his shots and play his
ideal game style.
Blake mentions that he has become more and more aware of his
optimal game style and felt confident that he would win more
matches than he would lose playing his favoured style
