Movement Drills
By Pat Etcheberry, Trainer To Many Grandslam
Winners including Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi
One of the biggest developments
in the modern game has been the development of the inside out forehand.
In this video clip Pat Etcheberry demonstrates how to improve your
tennis specific movement for the inside out or runaround forehand.
For a right handed player it is important
to cross the right foot behind the left during the tracking phase
of the movement. It is key that you move quickly around the ball
whilst maintaining dynamic balance (keeping your head stable). By
positioning your body behind the ball you can generate forward momentum
as you strike the ball. Using a medicine ball in this 'circle forehand'
exercise helps you strengthen your body so when you hit the court,
you have added power to hit a devestating forehand!
