Reinforcing
Technique on the 'GO'
(Mobile/Cell Phone Downloads)
Motor skills can
be reinforced in many different ways. In the main, players perform
and reinforce skills via:
- verbal instruction,
- kineshesis (physically performing the movement
pattern),
- visual-sensory input.
All types of these types of
sensory input are enforced by the coach during training on court.
However, it is the off-court motor skill learning that is the subject
of this article. Specifically, it is about providing relevant visual-sensory
information that may provide the player with a 'skills reinforcment'
tool during off-court periods such as travelling to and from school/tennis
club. As coaches we are all looking at ways in which we can provide
a greater service to our ambitious pupils.
