Balls... Part III
The role of the ball in a childs technical and tactical development

In order to keep more children invovled in tennis and in particular girls, it is important that they feel competent and successful. By developing good technique, children will be better equiped to handle the difficult questions that a competitive game of tennis throws at them.
Tennis by nature is a game of error limitation, normally the player who makes the least amount of errors will win the match; having a game with few technical and tactical linitations is a must for aspiring future professional players.
Using lower compression balls can enable a child to develop the skills that they will need as they progress along the tennis journey. Notice how Florence strikes through the ball with greater ease. Because the ball is in a more comfortable hitting zone more often she has the opportunity to groove effective technique. Lower compression balls also allow players to develop their tactical intelligence. Because Florence is not forced back by high bouncing balls, she is more likely to develop a 'total tennis game' including attacking mid court balls and net play. In my opinion the development of a 'total' game makes tennis much more exciting.
