The Circle Forehand Exercise

By Pat Etcheberry, Trainer To Many Grandslam Winners

One of the biggest developments in the modern game has been the development of the inside out forehand. For a right handed player it is important to cross the right foot behind the left during the tracking phase of the movement. It is key that you move quickly around the ball whilst maintaining dynamic balance (keeping your head stable). By positioning your body behind the ball you can generate forward momentum as you strike the ball.

Using a medicine ball in this 'circle forehand' exercise helps you strengthen your body so when you hit the court, you have added power to hit a devestating forehand! In this video clip Pat Etcheberry demonstrates how to improve your tennis specific movement for the inside out or runaround forehand.

Click play and listen to Pat explain the exercise (The clip may take a few seconds to load depending on your broadband connection speed).
